First of all, let’s dive into what depression is all about. Depression is a mental health malady that is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain which results in a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It can also be referred to as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) or Clinical Depression. It affects the way you think, how you feel, and the way you behave which can lead to a variety of emotional & physical problems. Depression is both a brain disorder and a state of mind.

According to www.yourhealthinmind.org, women are about twice as likely as men to get depressed. Depression is an element of bipolar disorder.

Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses. According to research, up to 1.5 million people are suffering from depression in Nigeria a country in the western part of Africa. Depression is real and it is mental, not spiritual. In the early part of 2022, a popular Nollywood star came out to share her opinion on mental health on her Instagram story. She said “mental health is more spiritual than it is physical. Rededicate your life to the God you serve. Get rebaptized.” Hmmm! 🤔.
